DELHI: She can be called an innovative person with a great power of imagination. Meet Sonakshi Sharma, a Delhi girl who has designed the cover of the book – “The Tree’s Sister” written by Ankit Singh. She is also a professional photographer in addition to this.
The cover page of this book is being widely appreciated by the readers. The story is based on the emotional bonding between a 5-yr old little girl Shruti and the Neem tree. “Due to the theme of the book being based on nature/environmental, I selected the colour combination .i.e. Yellow & Green. The whole cover was designed keeping in mind the emotional connection between the nature, tree and the lead character, Shruti.” – added Sonakshi.
“The buying decision of the book depends upon the name of the author and the cover. This way, the cover design is an important part of the book.” – said Sonakshi, who was happy to know about the reviews to ‘The Tree’s Sister’ which has worldwide distribution since its release on 14th January this year. The author Ankit Singh is a pharmacy graduate based in Jodhpur city of Rajasthan.
While designing the cover, she kept certain things in mind like – the title, base story and summary of the book. “One need to have a conversation with the author. One has to know about his idea for the cover, and then the imagination does the rest.” said Sonakshi.
She is a mass-communication student and so learned about the graphic editing tools. “After learning about the graphic editing tools, the experimental process started. With trial and error, I learned more and more after that” – she added. In addition to graphic designing, she also handles the camera/video edit of her own Youtube channel “Our fav things to do”, which she started along with her sister Ishma Sharma.
