One great feature of The Indie Writer’s Network is the ability to make friends with other indie and aspiring writers. The benefits?
- Conversations (public or private) that aren’t restricted by a character limit
- Career networking
- It’s just plain fun!
Not sure how to find & add friends? Here’s a quick overview:
1. Search for members with common interests
To do so, navigate to the members directory, located under the Community tab. It can also be found by opening the dropdown menu that appears when you hover over your name or profile image in the upper right corner. From a desktop or tablet computer, use the convenient community access menu below the site title.
Enter search terms to find members with common interests. For example, as a Young Adult writer, I use the search terms “young adult” and “ya” to find fellow young adult lit authors. The search box above the members list will search all member profiles, so if an author has listed themselves as a young adult author, they should appear in the results.
2. Create friend request
To do so, locate the “Add Friend” button to the right of the name of the member you’d like to friend.
The member will receive notification of your request, and once accepted, they will appear in your friends list. You can find your friends list either by clicking on the “My Friends” tab in the Member’s Directory or by clicking on the Friends tab in your profile in the upper right corner of your browser.
3. Accept friend requests from other members
First, navigate to your Friends list.
Then click to accept the friendship using the button located next to the member’s name.
