I was shocked at his shock, this conscience thing is uniquely unfathomable to me, at first I thought it was a design flaw, then I recognised a variation of that old medieval morality. Not self pity but an abhorrence of killing. Since I have been extinguishing things for millennia this isn’t something that I have the tools to understand. If it lived on planet earth then I have probably killed one of it’s relatives at least. Take the dinosaurs, when the meteor hit the planet they started to go hungry and that was when I struck. It was a massacre on the scale of googolplex, I still couldn’t tell you how many things I killed back then, I would have slaughtered the first of the mammals but they were so short lived and new to the scene that they almost evolved as quickly as I can. Yet O’Gradykilled two people in his whole life and he carried it like he was some kind of monster. At least he killed the second one deliberately. There is even that book about the wooden kid Pinocchio. Conscience. If I could figure out how to kill a fictional character I would, lets face it I’ve killed a lot of artists and writers too, I can’t help it, it’s what I do. I am evolutions little helper.
